Wanderlust 108 Brooklyn Prospect Park

Wanderlust 108 Brooklyn Prospect ParkThis year’s Wanderlust 108 in Brooklyn’s Prospect Park was a sea of yogis and yoginis in red, an epic event that goes down in history.  In partnership with Adidas, over 2500 Wanderlusters broke the official Guinness World Records title for “Most People Doing Yoga in Pairs” that was led by yoga instructors Elena Brower and Lauren Imparato.  The partner flow included many poses that included Thick Tree, Supported Chair and Supported Seat Twist, to name a few.  Participants were given complimentary Adidas x Wanderlust red shirts with the appropriate slogan “BKLYN IS MY TRUE NORTH” emblazed in white across the front of the shirt, bringing a sense of unity.  “The partnership with Wanderlust allows us to create new and exciting opportunities.  Breaking a Guinness World Records title was a unique way for us to bring people together and celebrate the largest Wanderlust event in the world,” said Alison Stewart, Senior Director for Adidas Women’s.

Wanderlust’s mission is to help individuals cultivate their best self, or “true north”.  As always, the 108 events featured its mindful triathlon consisting of a 5k run, followed by a yoga flow and concluding with a guided meditation.  The triathlon is meant to be greater than the sum of its part where each activity is meant to shift one’s individualistic perception into something bigger, a state of oneness that is yoga.  “Wanderlust’s mission is to help people to find their true north, and part of that is making yoga, meditation and mindfulness practice something that’s accessible, attainable, community-focused and fun.  The idea of getting grounded while also setting a world record with a friend was immediately appealing, and we’re thrilled to be working with Adidas, and Guinness to make it happen,” said Sean Hoess, co-CEO of Wanderlust.  Matthew Rodrigues and Alli Forsythe energetically emceed the event, keeping the crowd engaged with excitement.  Noah Levine of Dharma Punx leads a reflective 30-minute meditation with the help of Rubin Museum’s Sara Auster’s sound meditation with her lovely singing bowls that resonated throughout the park.  DJ Drez was the underlining current bringing a continuous wave of beats that united the crowd with his eclectic mixes during the record-breaking partner yoga as well as during the yoga flow, both lead by local yoga instructors Elena Brower and Lauren Imparato

The Kula Market at Wanderlust108 is jam-packed with interesting food, clothing and other items that sparks one’s curious nature.  Many vendors graciously offer free samples and other goodies, keeping with Wanderlust’s culture of one love.  Almond based yogurt was given out by Kitehill and if you were hungry for more, Dr.Praeger’s was busy cooking up their complimentary veggie sliders while Samsung gave its fans free fresh coconut water to cool off from the hot day.  There were many other companies doing the same and it is always a fun way to try and become educated on brands that otherwise would have been overlooked during one’s shopping routine.
