6 Ways To Get Back On Track After Overeating
Even the healthiest of us can fall prey to the delicacies of the holiday season. All the cheese, chocolate, meat and the wine is too difficult to resist! As the year ends and the parties begin, we often overeat to our heart’s content.
After a huge cheat meal or a week-long indulgence is when we want to take a break from all the delicious food and get back to our normal routine. We understand how difficult it can be resisting that chocolate cake or cheesy nachos?
Relax. Don’t refrain too much from eating the holiday food. If you have had a big, greasy, cheesy, calories laden meal- there are a few ways you can follow to get back on track from that.
Don’t Skip Your Breakfast
Make sure you break your fast even after eating a big cheat meal the night before. You might feel sluggish in the morning but force yourself to eat a healthy breakfast. Have some egg whites, fruits and juice. You can add some greens too! This will help speed up your metabolism and prepare you for the day.
2. Eat a leafy lunch
Try to fix a salad for lunch. It will speed up your digestion too! Add some lettuce, onions, baby tomatoes, carrots, olives etc. Dash in some pepper and lemon to make it taste tangy and speed up your metabolism. You can also add some fruits like apples, oranges, and banana.
Eat a light snack in the evening. Get yourself a protein bar or nuts or some dry fruits. Make sure to just eat something healthy and of course no cheese! You can eat some fresh fruits too.
4. Drink Lots Of Water
Keep yourself hydrated all day. It’s better to keep water with you at all times as it will be convenient for you to have it in your reach. Drink in small quantities frequently. You can also add some lemon in a jug of water and consume in intervals. Not only will your metabolism be faster but you will also feel full and not get tempted to eat unnecessarily.
5. Homemade Dinner
Cancel plans to go out at night and just stay in. Cook a healthy dinner like a meatloaf or grilled fish. You can also have a tasty salad as a side dish. Avoid alcohol as it has a lot of calories! You can also have steamed veggies and egg whites.
6. Move A Muscle
Try to squeeze in some workout in your day. Go for a run or a swim, whatever possible. Doing yoga will also make you feel relaxed. Not only will your body overcome bloating but you will also feel active.
Food is a stress buster and it’s okay to give into cravings once in awhile. Maintain a healthy lifestyle and exercise regularly and you will be protected from diseases at all times! Don’t let a few cheat meals put you down and discourage you from wearing that hot corset look you have been planning for months!
